BF and PPD.

Is there anything out there that I can take while breast feeding for my PPD. I recently talked to my doc, and she said she would be more than happy to prescribe me something to take, I just can't take it while breast feeding. Is there anything herbal maybe that I can take? Or any other suggestions? I know getting out of the house and exercising really helps and I try to do what I can, but its not enough, I know I have PPD, and I feel I have been dealing w/ it for too long now. I thought it would go away and I would eventually start feeling better, but I have not. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

i took generic prozac, generic zoloft and generic wellbutrin while breastfeeding.  there are many other BFing mamas on here who also take meds.  Could you see someone else if your doctor won't prescribe medications that have shown no adverse side effects in BFing women?

I am currently on generic zoloft (just started last week) and currently nursing. I agree with speedracer about asking to speak with another doctor.

All of my providers (GP, Midwife, Psychiatrist, Pediatrician) agreed that the zoloft I am taking is safe for BFing.

I am BFing and on Zoloft.  All of my providers agree it is safe.  Sounds like a second opinion may be in order for you!
