I hate Max and Ruby

the kid's show. All the other shows are ok..kinda, this one gets on my last nerve, and Bailey loves it.  Where the hell are their parents, why is this little girl raising her brother, her voice drives me insane.  Sorry, it's on right now, and driving me insane, but Bailey is allowed to watch one show and this is what she wanted.

Re: I hate Max and Ruby

  • Oh I agree.  Her voice is like nails on a chalk board to me!!

  • I completely agree. DD has taken a liking to it and I cannot stand it. I always wondered where there parents are and why max only ever says one word per show. Annoys the crap out of me.

  • We talked about this a few weeks ago, it seems as though Ruby is universally hated. DS loves this show, loves it. I actually like Max though. I love how he's always giving Ruby dirty looks.

  • Hate it.  almost as much as I hate Angelina Ballerina.
  • I must be the oddball...I don't really mind it.  I realize they don't have parents and Ruby's kind of bossy, but I don't mind the characters and it's a lot better in my mind that weird shows like Yo Gabba Gabba.

I don't mind Yo Gabba Gabba, Bailey seems to learn more from that show, although it can be quite odd at times.  She always sings the please/thank you song, and don't bite your friends.  It is funny.

  • Ugh, I really dislike Max and Ruby!  My niece loves it and sometimes it's on when the kids have a playdate.  I don't understand what's cute/endearing about this show...Max is obnoxious and Ruby just giggles and says "Oh Max" when he wrecks her sh*t.

  • Thankfully, DD hasn't ever shown any interest in this show.
  • DD's seen it once or twice and didn't seem interested, thankfully!  I think I hate Toopy & Binoo more though.

Ha ha, be thankful for that!  They're on Treehouse TV in Canada but I suspect they're dubbed from a show overseas somewhere.  If you think Ruby's voice is annoying, this is way worse!

Then I am glad we don't have them :)

  • Thank goodness I'm not the only one!  I'm a meanie and won't let DS watch it because it gets on my nerves.  Yet, I love Yo Gabba Gabba.  Go figure!

I don't mind Yo Gabba Gabba, Bailey loves dancey dance time.

I completely agree.  I can.not.stand Yo Gabba Gabba.  Dumbest show ever.

  • I like Max and Ruby.  Embarrassed  Supposedly they're really trying to focus on the relationship between the 2 of them.  If you watch carefully while they're in the living room there is a picture of them with the Mom and Dad on the wall.

Ruby is endlessly patient with Max even though he's a bit of a turd.  Yes, she's a perfectionist and has her certain way of doing things, but I can think of worse traits in an 8 year old.  (<Supposedly Ruby's age.)

The only complaint that I can understand is that some toddlers/preschoolers stop using sentences and mimic Max's way of talking with just one word.  That would suck.

Even the name "Yo Gabba Gabba" makes me want to jump off a bridge, so I'm happy that is something I've never had to endure.  ;)

  • And did you notice that the little brother is like a freakin genius?  Everytime Ruby has a problem, somehow Max fixes it in his own way.  I have to admit I like Yo Gabba Gabba, only because it brings back memories of my childhood because of the character on there ie Biz Markie, that guy from Flock of Sea Gulls, some of the guest......am I dating myself?

Max annoys me much more than Ruby for that very reason. My 5yo took to doing the one word thing like Max & after enough reminders, now all I have to do is give her the side eye & she says "Okay mom, I won't talk like Max anymore" lol.

  • Ruby's voice IS annoying. Did you hear how she pronounces the word "record?"  reck-CORD  Does anybody really say that???
  • I do not like Max & Ruby either.  DS doesn't care for it.  Ruby's voice drives me like pp's have said.

Now, Yo Gabba Gabba was DS favorite show for about a year.  We have 27 on the DVR because DH and I got sick of seeing the same shows over and over.  We pretty much know the entire dialogue for all the shows.  Now he's moved on to Chuggington, for which I'm thankful, but we did have a Gabba themed 2 yr old bday party.
