Babies on the Brain

Confession...

Im in the office, we put E down for his nap about an hour ago.  DH is out front working on the landscaping and I hear our neighbor out there with their 2 y.o. son.  I know she probably wants me to come out but A. Im in my PJ's and B. her son annoys me when he's in our yard.  I feel sooo bad saying that too.  :0(  But he just sits in the rocks and throws them at the house/window the.whole.time. oorrrr he throws them at me, DH or E when he's out there playing.  I dont wanna deal with it.  She says nothing and I look like the bad guy trying to get her kid to stop pelting our house, or us.

The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new.

Re: Confession...

  • WTF why would the mom let her kid throw rocks at your house, let alone people. That's ridiculous. You shouldn't feel like the bad guy at all.

  • I would stay inside too! Who just lets their child throw rocks? Ridiculous.
  • She'll sit talking to us about 15 feet away and say "Ian, no" in a monotone about three times and then say "He never listens!" and then do nothing about it.

Also he pushes Ethan a lot, which I HATE.  Two days ago he pushed E on the concrete and scrapped the palms of his hands up pretty good.  They yell at him for it, but he just doesnt get it.  I like Ethan having a playmate, (he's not always rough) but sometimes it seems more work than its worth.

  • Have you tried to suggest punishment ideas in a not-know-it-all way so she doesn't get defensive? Like "oh Ethan used to do that but we did x and now he doesn't" or something?
  • Yeah, but she doesnt get the hint.  I think it is because she moved here from Germany about 4 years ago and the language and 'taking hints' is just a little beyond her right now, she's doing great with the language in general, but slang and others things still confuse her.  They put Ian in timeout which works, but it takes the world ending for them to actually use it.  He pushes Ethan into the wall and doesnt get it, but he hits his mom and he does.  They use it very selectively.
