thoughts on the new The Karate Kid

man, I remember watching the original as a kid and it being so exciting.  I'm not sure what to think of this new one.

On one hand, it could be good... it seems slightly different (yet the same), so maybe it won't ruin the original... then again, looking back the original was so cheesy in so many ways, maybe it will be better???  I have a hard time with remakes.

I seriously could quote just about that entire movie.  My father's co-worker bootlegged that tape for us, VCRs were so new and it was so exciting to watch it whenever I wanted.  I just could not wait to grow up and be in high school and go on a cool date like the one to that amusement park, how romantic I thought!  I forgot they were remaking it, I have to look at that link...anything is better than the follow up movies, well Karate Kid 2 was ok but after that was funny.  And yes, that movie is dated and cheesy but childhood.
