Help me with the nursery :(

Have you looked for fabrics or bedding that you really like?

I would do that first, and see what colors you are drawn to. If there are particular fabrics or a certain bedding you like, I would design the room around that.

That is what I did for K's room.... I found some (unisex) fabrics that I loved and designed the room around that. We don't really have a theme in her nursery. I'm not too big into the "theme" type rooms.

They do custom bedding. They're located in Mobile, but they do ship. My plan is to actually pick something I like off this website and my grandmother is going to make me something similar. But, If I didn't have her I would be ordering from them!

DH and I were talking about this the other night.  We don't want anything to theme-y and everything for boys seems to be that way.  This is DH's favorite for a boy.

Our theme is...well..."stuff", sort of like the rest of our house.  And we went super cheap-o using a lot of things we already had.

I bought a solid bedskirt and changing table cover, solid sheets and curtains, made a super basic quilt for her bed (that we never use in her bed anyway).  From there we just filled the room with things we liked.  We have photos of the dogs, framed nursery rhymes, mismatched furniture, birds, butterflies...  My favorite part is the new vinyl decal we just bought (etsy) to go over her bed:

That vinyl is sooo cute!  I'm looking for some vinyls on Etsy for the room too.  What's the wall color?  I love it!!

I have that crib and love it! I don't have any themes in mind right off but I'll keep an eye out for you.

Maybe I'm way off base, but I love the old cars/motorcycles/airplanes that Hobby Lobby has. I almost bought some to do Nate's room in before he decided he wanted to do sports. I was going to hang a couple of the airplanes from the ceiling in the corner-does that make sense? And then get several of the other pieces and set on the dresser/bookshelf. I think they even have some wall art to match, bookends, etc.

The paint is Crystalline - I don't know the brand but it came from Lowe's.  We bought 8-10 little samples of different shades of blue before we settled on this one.  It was a pain, but some of the ones I thought I'd like, I actually hated on the wall.

Rachel, you're exactly right.  That's more of the direction I'm leaning towards.  It's kinda like the rockabilly look that I'm leaning towards.  Like vintage looking prints of cars/motorcycles.  Some "mock" tattoo vinyls to put on the wall.  Just something a little different.  I'm definitely going to incorporate pix of the pups.

I used this seller for Abby's decal. They are super sweet and the decal still looks great! I'm not sure if they do custom orders, but I'm sure they can help you design something up. I think it would be cute to do a mock tatoo of his name...maybe for above his bed?

I wish I could help, but I was the same way.  As picky as could be and nothing fit what I wanted.  I ended up going with this and changing the sheet to the Oscar crib sheet: https://www.potterybarnkids.com/products/morgan-nursery-bedding-set/?pkey=bnursery-bedding-sets

No theme, but I wanted navy in there somewhere and no very pastel blue = shades of blue.  

 Good luck finding something!  Very good suggestions so far!
