OK, I'm really going to get it for this one, but I think there's some truth to the element that you don't quit things because you're lazy.
I am obese. I have been for most of my adult life. In 2006, I lost 60lbs and felt great about myself. But I hated every minute of counting calories and slowly the weight started creeping back on. Then of course, I got pregnant, and it was a total effing free for all. I'm now heavier than I've ever been in my life, excluding being 9 months pregnant of course.
I watched that episode of The Biggest Loser where they told Ashley her body thought she was 57 years old so she was losing 30 years of life by being obese. I'm not as big as Ashley but I looked at my son and started to cry because I couldn't imagine giving up even a minute with him if I don't have to.
I started to lose weight again with the help of Nutrisystem, and in over 4 weeks on my program, I haven't cheated once, nor have I felt deprived. I don't crave garbage food anymore. Eat to live, not live to eat.
I was too lazy before to really care enough to do it right. I used to get mad when people criticized me for my weight, but it really is my fault and I have to take ownership of that.
Re: FFFC
That's great. I hope you're really proud of yourself b/c it's hard to take control like that. Keep up the great work.
The lazy thing is true. I would love to loose 50 lbs, and was working really hard at pre-baby, but being pg I stopped working out and had such bad ms I ate whatever seemed like it might stay down. DD's 4m and I still can't seem to get myself back in the routine of eating better and working out.
First, congrats, and thank you for not making excuses.
I'm a fitness guru to the upmost extreme (very Jillianish), I owned a group fitness company and still try to teach and train. I HATE excuses, people do things cause they want to. Nobody eats Taco Bell everyday cause they CRAVE IT CAUSE THEY ARE PREGGERS.
Sounds like you are off to a good start. I beg you to please teach your son about nutrition as you learn more about it.
Just like the Biggest Loser winners in the past, once you get over the MAJOR hurdle, you will be consumed with pride, but also feel better in general and learn to enjoy your lifestyle.
If you ever need advice or motivation, feel free to PM me.
Best of luck to you.
Good for you! I'm excited that your sticking to your plan.
We lost my oldest sister in Jan. unexpectedly. She was obese and had unknown blood clots in her lungs. Really made me think about my life style, especially with having a LO around. She was only 32.
Thank you- I appreciate that! I'm having a hard time making myself exercise even though we have an elliptical machine I love. My goal has been 3x a week for 30 minutes daily. I think I need to step it up some more!
