I don't know why now all of a sudden I am starting to lose it but I just can't do it anymore...it finally got down to once a night but then went right back to 2-3 times a night and I haven't slept for more than 3 hours at a time since he was born... I feel like I've tried everything other than just letting him scream all night long...the longest I've let him cry has been about 20 minutes and it just escalates...the "easiest" way to get him to sleep in less than 3 minutes is for me to go in and breast feed him but that still requires me to get up and go in there...he doesn't drink milk or formula or take a paci...I give him yogurt in replace of milk because he loves that but that doesn't help with trying to wean him to a bottle...or give him any other option..PLEASE HELP ME, what do I do?!?!?!?!?
Re: Anyone else have issues with weaning night feedings at 15 months?!
My son coslept until 16 months and nursed a lot at night. We moved him to his toddler bed at 16 months. After a week of waking up a lot (every 1-3 hours) with him (I would not nurse him, my husband took the night duty), we did Ferber. We had to. I was exhausted and actually got into a car accident. The first night was hard. He cried for 20 minutes, then woke up every hour. The second night he cried for 5 minutes and woke up once. I am proud to say that my formerly NEVER STTN toddler now STTN every.single.night. 10-11 hours straight. I still nurse him before bed, but he goes in his bed and falls asleep alone. If he wakes, it is for 30 seconds and he goes back to sleep alone. Also, naps have improved. He went from napping 1 hour at daycare to napping 2-3 hours every day.
Your son needs to learn to fall asleep on his own. He wakes because he needs you to put him back to sleep when he transitions. My son was the same way.
