Similac Sensitive Users

I just switched from Good Start to Similac Sensitive because Marcus has massive spit up issues. He is on reflux medicine for the pain but I was hoping that the switch would help the volume of spit up.

This is only our second day on the new formula, but I'm concerned with the look of his spit up now. Its really thick, chunky and dark in color. Anyone else have this when switching? Does it get better or is this just how the spit up will look?

  • I mainly breastfeed, but DS gets 1 bottle a day when mommy is sleeping. I tried Good Start and it was terrible-- spitting up, constipated, just overall uncomfortable--and only because of 2 or 3 bottles of it. Switched to Similac sensitive and saw a remarkable improvement. DS still spits up occasionally, but he does that on breastmilk as well. Mainly he just seems to be a happier baby

  • We switched from Similac advanced to Similac sensitive last week. We had a ton of spit up issues. Like she would spit up on us so much we had to change clothes, I mean underware and all. Now, we haven't had anything like that happen again. Although, when she does spit up its like a spoonful and it is chunky, but I don't think there is anything abnormal about it.

Oh, we also went to feeding 4-6 oz every 3-4 hours to feeding her 4 oz every 2 hours, that has helped with the spit up also.

  • We've been using Similac Sensitive since the first week (switched from regular Similac), and DD has never had dark-colored spit-up. If it continues, you might want to call the pedi.

  • We switched to Similac Sensitive in the hospital and DD has really bad reflux, she's on Ranitidine and Prevacid.  She spits up after we burp her and its usually thick but never dark in color.  She still has terrible painful gas though and nothing seems to work.

Its not super dark like black or anything. Its just a medium colored brown then it dries on the burp cloth as a dark brown. I'm used to the burp up being a creamy white/tan color so this being a little darker and chunky is really different.

Maybe I'll call the pedi just to put my mind at ease.
