Yeah, I am here at the hospital and will remain so until the girls are born. I had consistent contractions Monday night and came in to L/D. They were able to stop the contractions using a combination of terb and procardia. But I am 4cm dilated so they won't let me go home. I am at 33 weeks and everyone here is optimistic but obviously the longer we wait the better it is for the girls. We toured the NICU and met several of the staff, who were extremely nice and answered all our questions. Supposedly, we'll be getting a growth scan sometime today to see how big the girls are. In the mean time, they monitor the girl's heartbeats and me for contractions every couple of hours. I continue to take both terb and procardia as long as my pulse and bp remain steady. I've had a few more contractions, but nothing like Monday night. Overall, I am doing ok and know it's the best thing, but last night was really rough. It's hard to move around with an IV and all the equipment attached. I am so swollen from the IVs that I can barely bend my legs. Getting up and out of bed is quite the ordeal! And there is no way to get comfy in a hospital bed. But like I said, I know it's the best thing and everyone has been very supportive. Thank goodness there is internet access!
Re: Hello ... from hospital bedrest
Good luck with the bed rest! I was in the hospital for 10 days before the girls were born. You're right... keep a positive attitude and the internet access is key. Also, I had about 1-2 visitors per day. Try not to overdo the visitors since you need to rest, but having someone come in helps keep the day moving.
Oh, I know it sucks but you know its the best place for you. Best of luck at the growth scan today! And yay for internet access!
Steal my kids picture or pretend they are yours, I will find where you live and ship all of their dirty diapers to your doorstep. Promise.
Hello from a past NICU nurse....
You've grown some healthy babies, and their lungs should be good now.
I hope they stay cookin' with you for a little while. Hospitals are no fun, but can someone sneak you in some real food?
I will be thinking of you. I don't want your LOs to be in the NICU, but us NICU nurses rock!
This time last year I was on hospital bedrest for 5 weeks. From 24 -29wks when my babies were born. You're doing a great job, and real food does help A LOT!!!
Soon it will only be memories
