Nickname Allie: Real name, missing????

My husband and I love the name Allie but don't feel comfortable making that her legal name. We have thought of all the usual names abbreviated to Allie (Allison, Alexandra, etc) but don't love any of them.  THe only one we don't hate is Alexa. Would Madalyn be ok abbreviated to Ally?

I love the nickname Allie! But I have never heard of Madalyn being shortened to Alli. I think she would more likely be called Maddie.

I have a friend named Alli and it's not short for anything. I don't think there's anything wrong with a short name.

We're naming our LO Esme which is short for Esmeralda, but since we would never call her Esmeralda we are going with Esme on the Birth Certificate.

My name is Alice and I go by Allie. Madalyn is a HUGE stretch. Why don't you just name her Ally if that is what you want her name to be?

I always liked the name Elise but spelled Alece. I think a lot of people would get it wrong and say Alice though.

What about Adelaide? All the letters are there, I think you could pull off Allie for short.

I love Alexa as well but I also think Allie on its own is nice.

Ally is a not a nn for Madalyn. Sorry. I think Alexa is even a stretch. When  hear Ally I think Allison.

Our 9 mo. old daughter's name is Alice.  While we don't yet call her Allie, we expect that we might some day.
