Hi, Folks~
I was dx w/GD at around 22 weeks, and after diet was having no effect on my fasting blood sugars, I was put on metformin 500 mg am and pm. They increased my pm to 1000, and I have a sneaking suspicion I'll be on insulin soon since my fasting is still too high - usually over 105. All other readings are usually ok.
I love to cook, and have been scouring recipe sites for great recipes. I've found some hits and some definitely miss.
So, what are some meal ideas have you really enjoyed AND had the bonus of resulting in great numbers?
And would anyone be interested in a daily food check in?
Re: GD Ladies - What are your favorite gd meal ideas/recipes?
We eat a lot of tacos sans the shell and stir fry.
I've had awesome results whenever I eat Deamfield pasta. For example, last night I made spaghetti..I used about 1.5 lbs of lean hamburger, i jarred spahetti sauce, and veggies. I had a HUGH bowl of it, so much that I could not even finish it and my 1hr number was 92! I've also done the Deamfield pasta mixed with pesto sauce and a chicken garlic sausage and got readings in the 90's as well.
If only I could get my breakfast number's done...thats my biggest problem right now.
