Elena likes to grab the spoon with the food on it when it is going into her mouth. Not helpful. I tried giving her her own spoon but then she puts that one in her mouth and there is no room for the one with the food on it. Hilarious. My baby had oatmeal all over her hands, her face, her bib, etc. Oh well, guess I need to get used to it. I just wish some of it would actually go in her mouth.

Re: Solids are such a big mess!

I started early, about a month ago, maybe a tiny bit more. For one thing, I wanted the nanny to have something to give her besides a bottle, because when I was first starting work, she was not a pro at that.
Then also there has been a lot of research coming out now that delaying solids actually does not prevent allergies, and actually starting earlier may in fact, prevent allergies. So since that doesn't seem to be as big of an issue as it was previously thought, I didn't see any harm in it.
We are an allergic family so that would have been a good reason for me to delay if it was supported by current research.
We don't do it every day, she is still in the learning phase. It also messes up the poop so I usually wait until she poops to give her any.
I do have it but her neck is so tiny that the food drips between the bib and her shirt. So I just use this huge bib that my mom sent that says Grandma Loves Me.
The funny part is the grabbing the spoon. As I said I did give her one but then it was in the mouth and I couldn't feed her.
Yea ad in 2 years it will be back earlier right! Its one of those things that always goes back and forth! I am most nervous for the pooping since solids jacked JLK.
