We had a lot of those ready to feed nurser bottles- you know the ones they give you at the hospital.... someone gave us a large stash and with the twins it has been easier. I started trying to use them only at night so we could feed easier and then using the same similac formula in a bottle during the day. I have the advent bottles and EVERYTHING that goes with them since they got such good reviews. They seem to be a little more fussy now - I am thinking the switch is to blame, but I don't know if its just an adjustment curve... thoughts? bottle recs if I have to switch.....
Re: swtiching from ready to feed nursers to advent bottles?
My DS is 3 weeks old but he was 5 weeks early. We've been using the ready to feed nurser bottles because the nipple flow is the only one he can tolerate yet. I tried him on the slow flow nipple with the Playtex Drop- Ins and he was choking and super gassy afterward.
I asked the doctor if there was a bottle or nipple slower than the Slow Flow for the Playtex and he said just keep using the ready to feed nurser bottles until he's older. He said to just clean them and reuse them (even though they say one time only). So we are mixing the powder formula and making the little bottles for now.
When I brought DD home she used the Avent and I liked them well enough...but after a few days she had a horrible night (bad gas and she is a bad burper)...and then they started leaking. After that I was done with Avent. It seemed like the flow was a little too fast and she would take in a lot of air.
I switched to the Evenflo Purely Comfi and she LOVED them....less parts (only a bottle, nipple and ring) and they are way cheaper & bigger. THey hold 6 oz, so it will be awhile till she needs the larger bottle. And they come 3 in a pack for like $10....which made me happy since we had spent so much on the Avent bottles. Plus these are angled so she seems to get less air.
