Today is End the R-word Day
I normally roll my eyes at sh*t like this on here, but this is important to me so I'll do my little schpiel and be done with it.
March 3 is End the R-Word Day. Help spread the word to raise the consciousness of society about the dehumanizing and hurtful effects of the word "retard" and encourage people to pledge to stop using the r-word. Make your pledge online at www.r-word.org.
Oh, and I know there are plenty of people on here who don't think the word "retard" is hurtful and don't think it needs to be eliminated from everyday usage.
If you're one of those people, great. But don't rain on my parade, OK? Not today.

Trying to get my dh to understand this. He uses the word here and there and I fuss at him and explain how it is hurtful. I really get hot when he uses it around the kids. I dont want them learning it this early and not understanding what it is and the meaning, how it makes others around them feel etc.
