just wondering if anyone has any advice for charting temps when you work shift work. i know what the literature says but looking for real experiences/suggestions.
I think you should choose a time that works best for you! As long as you have three hours of solid sleep (no moving, restless, etc..) and you temp AT THE SAME TIME it shouldn't matter what that time is as long as it's the same daily.
This is my problem too. Unfortunately, I work nights but only 3 days a week so the other days I switch to normal people hours. So my temping is not at the same time, but always after 3 hours of sleep. I am wondering if its just a lost cause. I'm glad you asked, I am curious to see the answers too

This definitely. I work 7p-7a three nights a week, and then switch to "normal" hours the other 4 days. Sleep is definitely weird.

That is exactly what I work. I guess I will just keep trying to temp after 3 hours of sleep and hope for the best!

Same here. Your SN says RN...what kind of nursing do you do? I'm a nurse on a chest pain unit.
I also work 7p-7a 3 nights a week. I work on a peds GI/Diabetes/Oncology floor. This is why I don't temp. I somewhat feel it's a lost cause, because bedtime and wake time are different everyday.
