So I paid daycare today for the month of February. She closed 3 days for snow in February. I didn't pay her for one out of the three because schools were open that day, main rodes were clear and I feel she should've opened.
I know she will argue with me at pick up later, wdyt?
Re: Daycare payment for snow days - wdyt?
if the school district was open then she should have been open.
Is there anything in the policy book given to you in regards to unpaid days off for things like this? There shouldn't be anything to argue about because it should have been discussed before even writing the check.
eta - i do agree though that if roads are clear and schools were open, then she should have been too. if she's still closed then she needs to make it clear to you that although the main roads are cleared, hers are not. you should definitely have had that information at the time she tells you she's closed. how did you find out those days she was closed - out of curiosity.
I'm sure it's a different situation for an at-home type care, vs daycare center. Daycare center I pay one price no matter what. Monthly tuition is monthly. BUT in an in-home setting I think things can be a little more grey.
If it were me, I would pay the full price, but I would let her know that I was very unhappy about that one instance, and that I really didn't feel like I should have to pay for that day. You can say I'll pay in good faith this time, but I'm hoping this situation doesn't happen again, as I'm not sure I would make the same decision the next time.
I don't remember what's in there but we've had "discussions" before. Like when she closed due to her plumbing issues, I wasn't paying for that.
I think its usually based on if public schoold are open.
I don't mind that I had to take that day off but its the principal. If I can make it into the city, her workers can surely make it a few blocks to daycare.
then she should not be arguing about sh*t.
DH said when he was leaving, he saw the owners daughter with the calendar, and a calculator. LOL so I'm sure we'll talk later.
And it is an at home-center type of thing.
Hmm. I pay monthly, and if L is out sick or whatever, we just eat it. Also, she notifies us in advance of days she is closed (holidays and such). The only time we don't pay for a full month is July when she is closed for 2 weeks for her vacation.
But I agree, if she closed for snow, I wouldn't pay her for those days. My lady is never closed due to snow, even on days I think she should be.
We go to a center. We pay the same price every week (automatic withdrawl). If its closed for snow we still pay. If kids are out sick, we still pay. There are x amount of holidays a year they're off or closing early. We pay the same amount those weeks as well.
If she gives you a hard time, I would get it in WRITING what you expect and what she expects so you don't have to argue again.
yes we always pay all those things as well, vacation, sick, holidays, all of it. But I think an extra snowday when everything else was running is unacceptable.
