Not as far along as I thought...

I've been lurking here for a while and I was waiting until after my first visit to post an intro.  I'm pg with my second child.  My DS will be 5 in August.  Well, I went to the Dr. yesterday for my 8 week visit.  My LMP was in December, but I don't remember it being a regular period, so I was hoping to be closer to 12 weeks than 8 at my first appointment.  (I must say that I was on the pill so I wasn't paying attention to dates at all, just following the pack.)  I got my BFP around the first of February and it was so positive it stole color from the control line!  I've had symptoms for the past month (some mild m/s, cramping for two weeks after my BFP, and what I thought was the start of a small bump...probably bloat).  After my u/s yesterday, the Dr. said I'm only 6 weeks 4 days and due in OCTOBER!  Am I crazy?  Is it possible that it is really this early in the pg?  I'm starting to worry that the baby just isn't growing like it should.  Can someone ease my mind: is it possible to have pg symptoms two weeks after conception?

I don't know if this will help you or not, but I am very early, not even a full 4 weeks yet...and I had cramping all last week, which prompted me to test on Friday, at 3 weeks and 2 days. I think it is very possible to have cramping for a couple of weeks after you test. Mine has not been as bad in the last couple of days, but every now and then it's there.

Maybe if you are right after all, an ultrasound will determine the due date earlier than October?

I forgot to mention that they have scheduled another u/s for me in two weeks so they can get a better view of how the baby is doing.  It just makes me wonder if the Dr. is also worried and trying not to alarm me right away.  This is going to be the hardest two weeks hoping that my baby is growing.

I'm not sure.  I only saw a small gray blob   They said everything looked okay and they did confirm a heart beat.

This pregnancy was a surprise for Dh and I.  I do not have regular cycles, but based on my lmp and the symptoms I was having, I thought I was further along that I actually am.  However the bloodwork and u/s show that everything is developing normally. 
I was surprised/worried at first, but everything is progressing nicely!

If they confirmed a HB then things should be okay.  Try not to worry too much, if something were wrong (from what they can see at this point) I'm pretty sure you would not have seen the HB.  Good Luck!

I have had cramping since af was due. Actually I thought af was on her way due to the cramping.

It's quite possible to be plus or minus a week or two on your dates.  Late ovulation paired with late implantation can easily do it, as can the sperm taking an extra day or two to fertilize!

SAME thing happened to me. i thought i was 6 weeks and they told me i am measuring 4w1d.  i too am going back in 2 weeks (which is now next tues) and its been the longest week of my life so far as i constantly worry the baby isnt growing at the right rate.  best of luck to you and keep my updated!

 ps. doctor also told me everything looked fine and i probably just ovulated later than i thought.

Even though you had you LMP in December (which is irregular?) you might have ovulated late. Plus you were on BC, so I'm sure you just ovulated later and actually conceived at a later date then you thought. I'm sure everything is perfectly fine!!

The pill probably really screwed up your cycle, you probably o'd later than you thought. As for symptoms, I was already miserable by 5 and a half weeks with this one.
