Quick Update on Daniel

Caleb and I went to visit Daniel tonight, he's now in the pediatric rehab unit. He finished his antibiotics today and should get his IV removed tomorrow.

One of our main concerns is his hearing. He gets a full hearing test tomorrow. We are essentially "expecting the worst, hoping for the best." His right eye doesn't seem to be working correctly, but he has started to blink it simultaneously with his left eye. I hope that's a good sign!

Daniel is doing great at rehab. He is making tiny improvements each day. He can drink from a cup and has had a few spoonfuls of pudding. (He is still on a feeding tube, but it looks like he might be weaning off that this week.) He sat up for about 10 seconds on his own today, used his pincer grasp to hold a cheerio, stuck his tongue out at his Mom and waved bye bye to us when we were leaving. His expected discharge date is April 7th. My sister is very fortunate to have found help at home so she is able to stay with Daniel the entire time.

We took the boys for a stroller ride. It was the first time Daniel has been outside in over 2 weeks! Thanks for your continued thoughts & prayers.

Thanks for the update, I've been thinking about you guys. I hope Daniel continues to do well and that you get some better than expected news on his hearing test today!

Thanks for the update. I am so glad to hear that he seems to be improving some each day! I had it in my mind to ask about him at the GTG, and I guess I just got distracted. All of you guys are in my thoughts every day!

Thanks for the udpate...I hope u get the better then expected news about his hearing...i've been praying for him and any kind of miracles to heal him back to his old self. I'm glad u and Caleb got to visit with them and that you sister got some help to give you a break.

Thanks for the update, becki! I can't even imagine the toll this is taking on your entire family. It sounds like Daniel is making good strides with his recovery though, and he is so lucky to have such a wonderful and supportive family. I continue to hope and pray for the best for him as he heals!
