High-Risk Pregnancy

GD-UPDATE

So i went to see the specialist today and pretty much gave me information the doctor SHOULD have given me last week when you told me i had GD. I technically didnt fail the three hour. My fasting 2nd and 3rd hour test numbers were great but the 1st hour was a little high. Which means that my body is producing enough insulin but its delayed a little. So the nutritionist told me that i cant eat a lot of carbs at one meal and the diabetes specialist sees no need to see me anymore. They gave me a meter to start testing but they said by next month if numbers are all in line they wont even have me test anymore. They were surprised that my doctor even sent me since i have only gained 10 lbs and im 27 weeks.

i was so mad at the doctor for not telling me this when they called me last week, but feel a little relieved that diet should solve all the this.

Re: GD-UPDATE

  • That's great news!  The diet shouldn't be too difficult for you if you don't have to be super strict about it.  Just be aware that for many women, the further along we go into the pregnancy, the less tolerant of carbs we become.  I could eat certain things at 28 weeks and get 112 blood sugar score.  I just had the same thing this weekend, and scored a 214.  You may want to continue to test periodically just to be sure.

  • Thanks. I plan on continue to test just to make sure everything is okay.
