Anyone at OGA?

Hi! I've never posted over here before, but I thought that you girls might be able to answer a question for me.

I am having my big ultrasound in a few weeks and I was looking over the form they gave me about it and it mentioned that after the anatomical scan was completed that they would allow husbands/family to come in.

Is this accurate? It seems odd that MH couldn't be in there with me. If I have to go it alone does anyone know how long the ultrasound lasts after the husbands are allowed in?

I know this may not be a huge deal, but the thought of MH not being able to experience this with me is really upsetting to me.

Thanks!

Re: Anyone at OGA?

  • My DH was not allowed to come back for the first like 10 minutes or so. That was the unexciting part...the tech was just taking measurements and had the screen turned away from me so I couldn't even see anything. I was just laying there, DH totally didn't miss anything. After that, they let me go to the bathroom and they called him back to come with me. That's when the fun part started...they pointed out the arms, legs, profile, etc., and told us the gender. So to me, not having DH back there at the beginning was not a big deal at all because I was just laying there not experiencing anything but giddy anticipation at what was to come. GL!!

  • They took me back first and did the bits that required concentration - looking at the anatomy. Then, they called him back to look together at the baby and look for gender identifiers. :)

    It is fine.

  • Thanks for replying. Ten minutes does not seem like a big deal at all. From the sheet I was under the impression that we would be apart for the majority of the scan. It seems like I got all worked up for nothing.

  • i go to OGA Webster and if the paper said that, i didn't read it. both times my DH was with me and this time, DH and DS were in there with me... matter of fact, DS was so bored- that DH left during that first 10 minute part and gave him to the IL's that were in the waiting room... but i don't know why your husband can't be there-- wierd.

This exactly.   They don't even really talk to you - they are busy measuring this and that.  It was no big deal waiting.  You can see the baby moving around (but I tried not to look so I could make the gender a surprise until my DH came back - just in case I saw "something")

I know this has been posted here before, but I don't get this policy at all.  If it really isn't a big deal, why can't your DH be with you?  I would be pissed if this were my office's policy.
