Hi Ladies,
It looks like I'm going be classified as High Risk (I don't know how to link posts, but see my recent posts on IF/Multiples if you're interested in details).
I'm just wondering if anyone here has had a CVS. If so, what was your experience like? Why did you get one (if you don't mind sharing). What were you told about the risks of m/c? Any info that you can share would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Re: Anyone Had a CVS?
Hi! I had an amnio with my last pregnancy and a CVS with this one at 11 weeks. I thought the CVS was a little more uncomfortable than the amnio (both were trans-abdominal)....but it really was not bad at all! The needle actually going in did not hurt, but once it is inserted, the dr moves the needle back and forth, back and forth (like an in-and-out motion...but never taking it out of the placenta) trying to get a big enough sample. I guess you could say it felt like cramping, but I really just thought it felt weird and unpleasant. But again, not painful for me!! It took only a couple minutes and I was free to go! I got preliminary results within two days. It was the best decision ever!
Honestly, I did not worry about m/c. My peri had been doing these for 20 years so I felt she definitely knew what she was doing
Oh, and I got one because I'm at high risk for having Trisomy 13 and/or Trisomy 14 babies.
Hope this helps! Good luck!!
