s/o healthy bread in breadmaker?

We have a breadmaker that I use mostly for dough. I love the bread it makes but I only know how to make white & 60% ww bread. I love the hearty, whole grain breads, that I buy at teh grocery store (plus it's 100x more healthy).

Any good websites for healthier breadmaker bread?

Thanks!

  • I know my local grocery store sells boxes with the mix for rye and whole grain bread, you can also buy whole wheat flour and substitute it for the white.

  • ohhh I don't know but am very interested in finding out! I dont' use a breadmaker, but think I could adapt it somehow. Actually, there was a guy on Martha Stewart a while ago who wrote a whole book on making bread in a home oven vs commercial bakery oven thing. Jim Lahey's "My Bread" that is the author and book title-don't know anything about it, but it looked amazing!!
  • I dont' know if I'm any help - my breadmaker has a "whole wheat" setting and came with recipes for that setting.  I could post one if you're interstest.

Thanks. Mine does too, but the recipe is still half white flour. I am going to spend some time on allrecipes looking for something healthier.

  • I am in the middle of researching bread maker machines. I posted about them yesterday. Which ones do you ladies have?

Here is a site I found in my searching.  https://www.breadmachinedigest.com/

  • Thanks. I have a black and decker. It's nothing special but it does the job. It makes 1.5 or 2 lb loaves so it a bit bigger than other machines.
