My first try is currently cooking itself while I am at work. Pot Roast. I originally went to Walmart armed with V's recipe and CocoJack's recipe (among other things we needed to complete our meal plans) but when we got to the meat section I saw that instead of buying everything seperately for the pot roast, they had this slow cooker meal thing already set up with veggies, cut of beef, and a season packet you mix with the water. So I got that instead.
My husband I are now super excited for dinner. LOL. It took me 5 minutes to throw it all together this morning before I left for work. Not too shabby!

Sounds yummy! I haven't used my crockpot in forever. When we first got married I used to use it at least once a week but lately I've been slacking because I discovered the convenience of my pressure cooker. I used to make brisket in there all the time (I'd just cook it in root vegetables and chicken stock with a bit of worchestire, garlic, salt and pepper) and serve it with a homemade Chipotle BBQ sauce (Bobby Flay's recipe, in his book"Grill It"). But now that DH works at a BBQ restaurant, that doesn't thrill him anymore. So, I guess the pressure cooker will do.
Oh, don't be impressed! I was terrified of them too, even though my mom used to cook with them at least twice a week growing up. All the cuban staples in my house were made in the pressure cooker - carne con papa, vaca frita, ropa vieja, masitas de puerco... The first time I used it I called my mom like fourteen times to make sure I was doing everything right. She stayed on the phone with me when I finally opened it and voila, like magic, there was perfectly cooked meat. You just have to make sure there is enough water in there or you will end up with a burned, black mess.
ditto!!! holy cow Eli- I'm terrified of one. Although I really want to learn how to use it since I want to make beans.
I get excited over that kind of stuff too!
I have a beautiful Cuisinart crock pot sitting in the cabinet that I got for my bridal shower almost six years ago and have yet to use. I really need to just break it out and dive in.
