I'm feeling soo frustrated- LO will take my BM fine from a bottle, but when I put her on the breast, she will suck for about 30 seconds and then scream. She does even when its only been 2 hours since her last feeding, so its not like I'm over-full. She'll go back on but will continue this suck-scream thing over and over. She will only eat for about 4 minutes and then is uncomfortable, squirmy and spits up a lot. I'm thinking I must have a too powerful let down? I tried pumping a little before feeding yesterday, and it helped a little but still the same overall behavior. I've tried to do the side-lying position, because I heard that helps, but can't seem to figure that one out. Anyone else experience this? What did you do to help the situation? If I do pump some ahead of time, how much should I pump? Thanks for any advice, she and I are both pretty frustrated!
it's hard not to get frustrated but she may be picking that up from you too. Try to remain calm and relaxed. Do you squirt when you let down? I used to and at that point I'd grab a towel or burp cloth and let myself squirt into that and then return to breastfeeding. It really seemed to help. If that doesn't work try talking to a lactation specialist. They are awesome.
