I have never heard of it to avoid a positive GBS, but taking a good probiotic will help the good bacteria overtake anything bad going on in your body. I love the Renew Live shelf stable probiotics.
i did some research on this and acidophilus pearls are supposed to be the best b/c of easy absorbtion. you are also supposed to take vitamin c to help with it. i would love to avoid gbs!

I worked for the company that makes Acidophilus pearls and they just don't work as well as the Renew Life brand. My husband also owns a health food store so we see a lot of brands. The amount of bacteria in the pearls is just not enough to do anything. I take probiotics everyday or digestive but also for yeast infections and Renew Life was/is the best brand for me.
thanks! are renew life in a soft gel? i will be headed to my vitamin store this evening to get my first purchase of probiotics... i'm not too familiar and was just going to ask my vitamin lady.

I'd be too afraid that it wouldn't work. What if I tested negative at 35 weeks, but then forgot to take it for a few days right before delivery and then it colonized and was passed on to the baby?
I'd rather know and then take the probiotics to help eliminate as much of the bacteria and still be given antibiotics during labor. I wouldn't do it to avoid having a positive GBS test.
I take probiotics to keep yeast at bay. I'd take them to avoid the YI you may get from the antibiotics you take if you end up with Group B strep. I've never had Group B strep, but I'm on an anitbiotic for my face so I take probiotics every day.
