I just e-mailed it to him. Hopefully he will change his mind. He is worried about the mess and when LO stays with someone.

  • It's so worth it.  My DH wasn't really on board and gave me a hard time about it, but understood saving the money and he has done fine w/ using the cd's - granted, I do most of the changes and all the laundry (but I don't mind at all).  I love not having the monthly expense of diapers.  When people watch him I just send BG aios with him and tell them they work just like disposables (because they do).  MIL watches DS while I'm at work and won't use the cds, which is unfortunate but she buys the sposies, so I guess she can use what she wants.

BTW, your ds is SUPER cute.  I love those pics!

  • I was in the same boat and I ended up ordering 3 pack of smartipants and just putting them on her one weekend.  I do most of the diaper changes, so it is my choice.  DH still puts on disposables from time to time but since we are really a half and half diapers family, it is ok.

  • I won DH over on the cost savings. If he's worried about "mess" use diaper liners and/or a diaper sprayer. The sprayer makes poop so much easier esp since DS doesn't have solid poop often.

We talk about poop a lot on here. Hope you aren't grossed out. ;0)

  • Cost won over DH. I had mentioned it with our first and he said no. Then when I was pg with #2 I looked into it more and found the savings that could be had.Show him numbers of how much savings you can have. Look back at receipts and add up what you spend monthly on diapers and that it could be going toward debt? vacation? extra spending money?

We decided to "go cheap" (prefolds, covers and a couple fitteds all from diaperswappers) and give it a test run to see if we (he) could do it and how it worked out. We both didn't have any problems with it (even him with the prefolds) and have done it since. I do the laundry, but he will help if I ask him to switch a load, etc. and he won't take care of the poopy (solid) diapers, but I don't mind. It's worth it to me.

Just ask him if he'll do a trial run with some cheapies just so he really knows how easy it is. He probably won't care in the end :)
