car seats

Which convertable car seat do you have? or which did you/do you really want? I need to buy this very soon. Aside from safety, what are the other features you really like?

Re: car seats

  • We went with the evenflo Symphony. It has really good ratings both from saftey, reviews, and baby bargins. Plus it converts to a booster seat when he is older. Needless to say its good up to 100lbs.
  • We got the Britax Marathon.  It's done well with safety reviews, particularly side impact, and we also got one on clearance (due to discontinued pattern) so the price was right.

  • We have the Britax marathon also and really love it! He's been in it since around 6 months and he is very happy.
  • We have a Maxi Cosi.

We got it because our infant car seat was a Maxi Cosi and we liked that.

Good features are that it's black and, for when he starts needing the sippy on trips out, has a cup holder.

It's safe so the other stuff is just 'cause we're easy to please.

  • We have the Britax Boulevard and quite like it so far - DD has only been in it for about 4-6 weeks now. We chose it over the Marathon, which we also quite liked, for the side-impact extra protection.

  • we just got Safety 1st Alpha Omega Elite. love it! you never have to thread the strap through the back to adjust. I LOVE THIS FEATURE. It has three recline positions that you only need one hand to adjust, is safe rear-facing through 35 pounds and front facing to 100 pounds, excellent reviews and ratings, cup holder, etc. she has loved it since the first time i put her in it to adjust it to her (see pictures in my siggy). https://www.albeebaby.com/safety-1st-alpha-omega-convertible-car-seat-titanium.html

That's insane! The 100lbs I mean. I would have fit in that seat up til graduation from high school.

Oh I agree! I thought the same thing when I bought it.

But in NY unless they are over 8 yrs old, 5' tall and over 100 lbs they have to be in a booster seat. S I figured waht the hell now I don't have to buy another one for the rest of his childhood. :-)

I have this one too and LO and I both love it.  he's a big boy and he's got room to grow in it, plus it has the adjustable straps that you just slide up and down (no need to re-hook them) and its got the LATCH system which I love, easy to install and remove to put in DH's car if necessary .... bought mine at Burlington Coat Factory for much cheaper than usual ...

  • I wanted to buy a Britax Marathon, but ended up getting a Britax Roundabout as a hand-me-down from my BFF.  Once DD outgrew the height limits for rear facing in that seat, I switched it for the Graco MyRide 65 that my mom had in her car.  DD likes it well enough, and it's much bigger than the Roundabout so she has room.

DH has the Recaro Como in his car.  He loves it.  It has the side impact protection and one of the highest safety ratings out there, which is the reason he picked it.  We got it at diapers.com for a really good discount, because it was a closeout of the 2008 model.  https://www.diapers.com/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?productId=14632

They also have the newer ones, but they are not as discounted:
