The entire pregnancy I have been measuring larger than I actually am. I had gastric bypass surgery several years ago and now have extra skin and super weak ab muscles.. anyway..
This week at the midwife I was measuring at 37 weeks (I'm actually 31) from my fundal height. so I predicted that within the week I'd be told I was going to start hearing all the typical idiot comments. Sure enough, I went out in public for the first time since the appointment and ONE cashier managed to hit all of them..
'Wow! Any day now, huh?'
'Must be more than one in there!'
'You're gonna pop!'
'Two more months? Bless your heart!'
The Husband found it hilarious.
Re: I knew it was only a matter of time..
I told my husband I was really glad she'd said it to me and not one of the pregnant women I know that it would have sent out of the store in tears!
At least I'm aware that I look larger from the outside than someone would typically.. and I know there are medical reasons.
Most of the women I know are extremely sensitive though - people just don't get it! Morons.
That's what would have finally sent me over the edge.
Why do people say crap like this anyway? I get comments depending on what I'm wearing because some things make you look smaller than others. I've had some of the same people say "You don't look that far along" and two weeks later "Wow, you look much farther along that you should." I just want to say "It's because I'm cheap and I don't buy my own maternity clothes. I just wear whatever friends give me or an old huge sweatshirt I have in my closet and DH's bluejeans." But it's not worth the effort.
