Witching hour....

We have been going through this for about 3 weeks now. Every night from 6-8

How many other moms are experiencing this?

How long does it usually last?

Re: Witching hour....

  • Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but...it could last for years.  My 3 yo and 5 yo still get cranky and fussy.  Their witching hour starts at about 5 and goes until they go to bed at 7.

  • We get it a little later, usually around 8 - 10.  I put DS in the sling and he usually goes to sleep but then I just can't take him out for at least an hour or he'll wake up.
  • Ours is around 5-7 p.m.
  • Riley used to have hers around 11pm-1am.  Luckily, once she started STTN, her witching hour went away.  Now every once in awhile, she gets a little fussy around her 6pm feeding.  Her witching hour only lasted for about 3 weeks.   It was hell, but I am soo glad that that phase is gone.  Now cross our fingers it doesn't loop back around.

  • It started this week for us.  It starts around 5:00 and can last until he goes to bed at 10:00 or 11:00.  I read it usually goes away between 3 and 4 months.

  • my baby is only 2 weeks old but she has her days and nights confused and wakes up at about 2 am, eats and then just wants to be held until almost 6...so far almost every night...sometimes she sleeps for a little while in between but thats even worse cause you think shes sleeping but as soon as you lay back down she cries...im going crazy
  • Our LO started to get cranky at night around 6 weeks. We realized she just wanted to go to bed then! We had previously been struggling to get her to sleep by 11pm, then magically she got cranky and now goes to sleep around 7pm every night! she sleeps until about 2am, which in case you were wondering, is when she wakes up even if we keep her up later. So maybe give it a try, the evenings with DH are a welcome side effect!
  • We have it most nights too.  It's not too bad but sometimes she just feels like crying.
