Plus-size moms, come in please

Ok, so my pre-preg weight is about 50 lbs above a healthy weight - like when we got married.

I gained 30+ lbs while pregnant & I'm now down to 10 lbs above my pre-preg weight so I figured I'd wear some really baggy khakis that have been sitting in the top of my closet. (They were a full size too big when I got pregnant.)

Yikes. They buttoned, but "muffin-top" doesn't even come close to a correct description. I guess those will stay in retirement for a while. :: sigh ::

So, how long did it take you to get back to your old pants?

  • I am so far off from being in my old pants it's not even funny.  I gained 45 pounds while pregnant and I have lost 21.  To get to a healthy weight I will have to not only lose the rest of what I gained while pregnant but another 40 pounds.  Right now I am still wearing my elastic waist maternity jeans...nothing else fits.  I have tried on jeans at stores and I just cannot get any of them to button...and by going up a size or two to get them to button, they are too big in the thighs and butt area.  I just cannot win.

  • Well, pre-pregnancy I was a size 16.  I got up to 241lbs by the end of my pregnancy and I am now down to 210lbs.  That is actually only a lb or 2 off from pre-pregnancy.  I bought a pair of jeans that are size 16 from Old Navy but they fit weird.  After a couple of hours I can take them down without undoing them but I can't actually wear any of the pants from pre-pregnancy yet :-/

  • I was lucky... I could wear my "pre-pg" jeans up until I was nearly 7 months prego (they were really loose...), and they fit again at 3 days PP... But I find in the last month or 2 I've been shedding weight/inches like crazy... but all of my weight issues are due to depo provera, and according to my MIL (who has a background in nursing), since I've had the baby, my hormones may have reverted to the way they were before I went on depo.... if that's the case, I may yet lose a lot more weight in the next 8 months or so... which would be frickin awesome, although I'd have to do a lot of clothes shopping between now and then, which I'm NOT looking forward to.... (I'm already quite annoyed that the pants I JUST BOUGHT last week are already falling off too easily... and I tried them on in the store, too!!! grrrrr)
  • I was 195 pre-pregnancy (I'm 5'4") and 230 by the time my LO was born. At 2 weeks pp I had lost 18 lbs and was down to 212. I am now back up to 216-218. Yep, going backwards!! Anyway, there's no way I am fitting into my pp size 18 jeans and when I went to the store I would have had to get a size 24 jeans in order to button them and have them be comfortable in the waist. The problem with this is they would have been HUGE!! in the butt and thighs. So, for now I am still in my maternity pants. I am so tired of wearing maternity clothes and I am really frustrated because I am no longer breastfeeding, but I still have to wear the maternity tanks to keep the maternity pants up.

So, yeah, right there with ya lady!

  • This 210-pound mama (was 238 at 40w, 160 at BFP, would like to get back down to 150) is going to pimp out my Tuesday weight loss check-in!  It's called Fat Tuesday, and it's for mamas that have about 50 pounds or more that they would like to lose.

I'm really open with my numbers on the check-in (inches & pounds), but it's great to be accountable to a group of ladies that aren't "still" 10lbs away from their size 4 jeans...

I wasn't a plus-size lady pre-preg, but I am now.  I went from a size 10 (or so) when I got pregnant, to a size 18W right now.  I did buy a couple of pairs of jeans a couple of weeks ago in my new size... it broke my heart, but they fit (Sad), and that's rather refreshing to not be tugging on my pants.

  • OMG!  Reading some of ya'll's responses...I'm in the same boat.  I am sitting at 210.  (Figured I'd say it since I didn't in my previous response.)  The jeans I just bought...they sit just fine when I first put them on and by mid-day they are so loose on me...I hate the way they make jeans now days in the bigger sizes.  I don't want elastic/stretchy jeans.  I don't want them to stretch out by the afternoon to the point of them falling down.  I cannot wait to get back into my size 10s!!

BTW:  I am joining Weight Watchers.  Right now they have no registration fee.  And they have the point system for if you are EBF or BF/FF mix.  For me, I will get 39 points a day since I am EBF.  (Just to give you an idea...my SIL who is not BF of any sort get's 18 points a day.  So you see, I will still get to eat a decent amount of food each day.)

GL ladies on your weight loss endevors!  I know I could use some cheering on!!

  • I am on the border - I was a 10/12 at bfp (5'7" 180) and got up tp 228. I've already lost it all (at 179 today!) but nothing fits right still so I'm wearing maternity pants but they fall off. My regular pants fit but are too tight where my c/s incision was. I'm contemplating buying a Bella band to wear for the next little bit until my regular pants fit comfortably.
  • I was 170 pre preg, size 12...got up to 232 when I delivered. I'm down to 198 now, but have been at this weight for 6-7 weeks already! I just had to go buy a pair of size 16 jeans, my maternity pants are getting pretty dingy.

I joined WW again today, I had lost 60 lbs before getting pregnant, only to gain it all back! Ideally I'd like to be down to 140 or so, I've got a long way to go!

  • I was able to wear my old pants 2 wks later.  I am very much plus sized (about 80lbs over weight pre-preg) but I only gained 14lbs during my pregnancy & I lost all it plus 20 lbs by my 6wk appt!!  That excited me!!  My baby was 9lb 10oz & my DR said I had a crazy about of fluid so I think all my weight gained was pure baby / fluid / placenta ... hopefully I can keep it off!!! :-)
  • I gained 15 lbs and have already lost 25 lbs.  My pre-pregnancy pants don't fit right because of the muffin top.  I have to figure something out soon because I'm going back to work in a few weeks!
