DD had a very rough day today according to her teachers. She apparently cried all day - at one point for an hour straight. She would not sleep unless she was being held (she's NEVER done this before) and only for 10 min. stretches (she is usually a really good napper).
I have no idea what is going on. No fever so I'm no sure if she is sick or not. The daycare suggested she seemed "uncomfortable" like gassy or something. Someone also suggested teething - but she's only 3.5 months (not that it's not possible).
We finally put her in the car today to see if she would sleep since she hasn't slept since this morning and she did (which is also unusual...she never sleeps in the car). We are home now and she is still sleeping in her car seat in our living room.
But she's making these awful noises...sort of like when you cry so hard and it's kinda of a choke/hard quick breath type thing...if that makes any sense at all. But it's been over an hour now since she fell asleep - and she's still making that noise.
Should I call the doctor tonight???
Re: Bad day at daycare - wondering what to do...
I would watch her tonight and take her to an urgent care tomorrow. It could be teeth (both my kids got teeth at 3 months) but if she has been sick in the past two weeks I would lean more toward that. I hope she feels better soon!
Tell M I said hi and congrats to you both on the baby.
I had to do a hard stop on nursing about 4 weeks ago now...however, she is still getting some frozen breastmilk and she got a couple bottles of it today. I guess there is a chance that something I could have eaten that day might have had something to do with it. Hmm, interesting. Hadn't yet thought of that one.
Does she also have a barking/dry cough? If so it could be croup. DS had this a few months ago and made those gasping for air type noises in his sleep he also had a dry cough. He did run a little fever, it was around 99 but not much. I would probably call your on call Ped tomorrow morning and see what they say.
*eta- with croup their vocal cords are swollen, hence the barking cough and weird sleeping noises. What was recommended for us to help him with that was sit in the bathroom with him(door closed) while the shower is running and let the steam help bring down the swelling. Also since it is a cold dry nigth out tonight taking them outside for a while (10-15 minutes, bundled up ofcourse) help a lot when DS got really bad. I would not wake them to do this but next time she wakes you might give it a try. Both things help bring down the swelling and allows them to breathe easier.
