How do you get a 3yo to cough??

DS has a barky wet cough - it sounds like if he would just cough it up, he'd feel better, but he won't cough!!  Help?

Have him lay on a bed, with the edge of the bed at about his waist. His upper torso would be hanging over the bed, with his arms hanging down to the floor. Give him good firm pats and rubs on the back while he sings or makes some noise, or even stuff tell him like "What does a dinosaur sound like?" so he makes deep hard noises.

I know that sounds so weird, but if there is a lot of congestion in his chest it can sometimes help. And as I'm typing this, I'm picturing about a dozen nesties reading and going "Whaaaa???"

to get DS to cough, I tell him to copy me and I do a kind of AHEM thing. works for us.
