Any ideas to up toddlers immunity to not get sick?

we've been really lucky, our son rarely gets sick. The past 2 yrs though he has gotten a stomach bug in March. So I was thinking that I should maybe try to take some extra precautions the next few weeks to keep him from getting sick. Anyone have any ideas that work for them besides extra vit C and handwashing?

  • Hand sanitizer. Sanitizing toys/blankets/pillowcases more often. Daily Vitamins. Lots of veggies.
  • We successfully bypassed the nasty bug that went around 2x already, and all that I did was boost vitamins, we were eating LOTS of veggies and he was drinking OJ every morning.....once I slacked off on the veggies and OJ...flu bug! (Thankfully just a high fever...no vomitting or anything!) And we have done ALOT of traveling so hand sanitizer and hand washing are a big thing...with bottles of the wonderful stuff always accessible for my DS (3)

    that's great! my son hasn't been sick other than little sniffs here and there, since last march. And there seems to be a pattern b/c the year before that  march was the only month he got sick too. He came home the other day telling me his friend at school threw up, so hopefully we can take some precautions. What extra vitamins do you give? My son takes a multi every day.

  • Probiotics....great for the immune system and the GI tract. Make sure you do vitamins, probitoics and handwashing for EVERYONE in the house because it only takes one of you to get sick and pass it along to the whole household. We do extra Vit. C, D and E supplement along with daily probiotics. We also do cold liver oil supplements. Coconut oil is also good and has antifungal and antiviral properties (you'd probably want to cook with it instead of just taking it straight though since it's a solid oil at room temp).
