So DH and I both like the name Alyssa, except it makes him think of Alyssa Milano and therefore doesn't want to use the name. 

Would the association with Alyssa Milano bother you?  Why or why not?

Is there something I'm missing?

Seriously, it wouldn't make me think of her... I have a couple of friends with that name. It's not a negative association for me anyway.

Wouldn't bother me and there are other Alyssa's out there. Not to mention the fact that it's something our generation associates it with, but as she grows up, she probably won't even think about it. She might not even know what "Who's the boss" is.

Nope. Never crossed my mind. My SIL's name is Alyssa and I have a few in my preschool. I hear it alot and never made the connection.

Thanks for all your responses!  It didn't bother me either, but it still bothers him.  Hopefully I can convince him

It doesn't make me think of her. She sat by me at a Dodger game 2 or 3 years ago and she was really sweet and beautiful. It's a pretty name.

I think Alyssa is a great name.  Who cares if it reminds someone of Alyssa Milano?  I know I wouldn't let it bother me!

I love the name Alyssa but DH wants to name her Vanessa and i think i may let him since its his first and probably only child and i already have 2 others....
