We have begun the grueling task of cost analysis for childcare when I go back to work in July. Anyone have any recommendations? These are our first babies and the whole idea of daycare scare the heck out of me based on horror stories I've read/heard. I figured I'd go to some people who would know.
We live in the City Line area, my husband works in Plymouth Meeting and I work in North Philadelphia/Fairmount area so either of these are convenient for us. Thanks for any input anyone can offer!

Re: Daycare versus Nanny for twins...
I don't have a rec but wanted to suggest finding a daycare close to home so BOTH of you are able to drop off/pick up the kids (sick days... days one of you have to work late). It's also good if you need a mental/you day.. drop the kids off and go home or run errands
I love my daycare and haven't really heard any real life horror stories... .who knows if some of the posts are real.
I like that the daycare has rules and outlines.. paperwork (I know when dc eats.. sleeps.. poops.. changed etc).. .... the entire center is child safe (opposed to someones house). My child is watched 100% of the day. No one is watching TV or running an errand or on a computer.
There is always going to be controversey when it comes to daycare/income.
I hope you choose the one best for you.
We have a nanny come to the house and I highly recommend it and the price was comparable to 2 infants in a daycare center.
What I like about a nanny is we do not have to deal with drop off and pick up and packing everything up each day. And logistically getting 2 babies in and out of there every day stressed me out (they are in convertible car seats now so I couldn't carry the infant seats in and I can't carry both babies at the same time. So I would have to use my giant stroller)
We found our nanny on care.com and we were really pleased with how many great candidates we met on there. I paid their $30 fee to give me access for a month and I think it was worth it. They do background checks on the site.
I vote for a nanny, having been one myself before - nothing can replace the special care your babies will receive from a nanny. I also like some of the reasons listed above. They will have so many more opportunities to be out and about in the world, not stuck in a center all day while you pay close to the same price. Good luck!
