Help assembling Graco Snugride Canopy

Hi all,

I purchased for DD a Graco Snugride, which overall I like, but I'm about at my wits end in trying to get the canopy to work. I'm beginning to think the canopy I got with the carseat might be defective, but I'm concerned that I may have mangled it too much in trying to fix it to return it. It looks to me like I might have gotten three of the "one side" kind instead of two of each (if that makes any sense).

My issue was this - I put the canopy together as assembled, but try as I might, I could not get the pieces in the middle to snap together while underneath the cloth flap of the canopy. I must have tried dozens of times - each time I thought it would snap, and then we'd get into the car, and halfway into the trip, one of the plastic supports would pop out, and I'd have to pull over and completely remove the canopy.

Today, just to make sure the snaps worked and to make sure I was snapping them in properly, I took them out of the canopy and tried snapping them together. Well, guess what - I had complete and total success. Too much success - now I can't get them apart to try to snap them into the canopy. It seems there are "buttons" I should push down to release them, but no luck. I feel like if I keep pulling, they are going to break.

Does anyone have any advice on how to a) unsnap the pieces apart, and then b) make sure they snap together when under the cloth flap? None of my other mommy-friends seemed to have any trouble with the canopy - did anyone else out there have issues?

 Thanks.

Re: Help assembling Graco Snugride Canopy

  • Do you mean a stroller or the carseat?  I think ours is an older model so I am probably not much help, but their customer service department has always been great for us.  I would bet they would just send you a new part for free to try and get it to work.  We bought our bouncy seat at BRU and it was missing a part (probably a return they didn't check before restocking) and we didn't feel like going all the way back out to SS for it - we called and they shipped it out to us for free.  Also the instructions often suck.  I think I am pretty good at reading directions and you should have seen DH and I assembling the pack and play for the first time.

  • Thanks - I meant the car seat. I'll give their customer service a call.
