1 in 9 sets of di/di twins is identical. (1 in 3 sets of twins is ID, and 1 in 3 sets of IDs is di/di.) So unless they're different sexes, you can't know for sure during pregnancy if they are fraternal.
I have di di twins as well, both girls. It means that there are two separate sacs and two placentas. I did read once that there is the small possibility that they can still be identical, but not sure how true that is since I found it on the internet.
I have to assume they are fraternal because I had an IUI with two follies. It was my third IUI so, I can't imagine one of them splitting but, who knows!
Thanks ladies!

To add on, fraternals are always di-di, but identicals have three different types: di-di (best to have), mo-di (middle risk) and mo-mo (riskiest). With mo-di (which we have) we have to worry about donating blood (TTTS) and get monitored very closely. Also because they share a placenta, Baby A's insertion isn't near the center like her sister its actually off the edge. With mo-mo there is the same TTTS worry but also cord entaglement as they are in the same sac. So, all in all, its good that they are di-di.
I could be wrong but I think frozen transfers have a slightly higher chance of ID twins, but I would assume you are right by guessing fraternal.

Steal my kids picture or pretend they are yours, I will find where you live and ship all of their dirty diapers to your doorstep. Promise.
My twins are Di-Di as well. My doctor said the only way we would know for sure whether they are identical or not is if they are different genders, which they are, so they are obviously fraternal. Di-di twins have the least amount of complications.
Re: Things that I found out at the CVS yesterday...
When I saw your post title, I thought, "what could she have learned at a drug store?"
duh. :P
di/di means they're dichorionic and diamniotic. (so they have two chorions/gestational sacs and obviously two amniotic sacs.)
