Trying to Get Pregnant

Decided to have my GP send referral to IF clinic

Due to health problems my GP has been offering to refer us to an IF clinic for a couple months now.

At first I thought it was too early, but then I realized as my symtoms get worse that it's probaby a good idea to get referred sooner than later.

I got a phone call today today from the clinic letting me know that in 5 months someone will call me and it will likely take 3 months before we get in for our initial consultation.

Now I wish I had let him send the referral sooner... yikes.

    That would be nice!

Hopefully I'll get my lap in a few months.  I've heard success rates are fairly high within 3 months of a lap. *Fingers crossed*

edit: Nevermind, I just saw you were in Canada....another FU to socialized healthcare. I'm sorry you have to wait so long.

Thanks! I guess I just have to be patient.

There is another clinic in my City, but the one I've been referred to is rated 2nd in Canada (second to a clinic in Toronto) so the wait time is ridiculous.

Generally in Canada the wait times to see specialists are pretty short.  The IF clinic I'm going to is private and rated second in Canada for success rates (second to the program in Toronto) so they have a long wait list.

ETA: Although, in Alberta the wait times are ridiculous since we instated a new Health Care System.  It's very frustrating!

  • What province are you in? It took me 2 1/2 weeks to get into the private IF clinic in my city, and my friend who is in another city about 20 min from me only had to wait about a month to get into her clinic.

I'm in Alberta.  We're having Health Care crisis right now (at least in Southern Alberta).

Up until a year ago it only took 3 months to see any specialist (and even shorter if it was urgent), then Dr. Duckett took over and we changed from the 'Calgary Health Region' to the 'Alberta Health Region' and ever since it's been really bad.

Which Province are you from? (We are looking at moving to the West Coast, so I'm hoping wait times are shorter in B.C.)
