The pedi. gave us the go ahead on fruits and vegetables and I am going to start this weekend with a vegetable.
Also, my sister said that when she started giving her DS solids, she would mix the vegetable or fruit with the cereal to start him off. To let him get used to the taste. What do you think of this? Stupid or good idea? It seems kind of pointless but I don't know.
Re: What vegetable do you recommend that I start with first?
We started with sweet potatoes. I didn't mix his veggies with cereal. DS didn't really care for cereal though. He loves oatmeal! So he gets oatmeal mixed with 2oz of fruit puree for breakfast. But other than that, he gets straight veggies & fruits. We're moving onto more finger foods now, but I still try to get some purees down him first!
Good luck! It's super fun!
we only did this w/ puree's... not the actual whole veggie or fruit.
we started with sweet potato.
our pedi said NOT to mix. that way the baby learns that different foods have different tastes and textures.
We started with carrots but sweet potatos are his favorite veggie. I make my baby food so it's a little runny so I do mix rice cereal with the veggie.
