I just looked on Kellymom and it suggested compressions while he's hanging out at my boob - I'll have to pay more attention, but I don't think he's comfort sucking, because he gets *mad* when my boobs are empty. I suspect there's a growth spurt going on - he is 6 weeks and even the miraculous baby massage didn't do the trick for more than ten minutes yesterday.
I'm going to try the compression when he wakes up, but is there anything else that you guys have tried to help your baby be sated longer? I generally have a decent supply of milk, but the constant feeding is just drying me up.
And if mama has another afternoon like yesterday she's going to need more than a beer and a bath at the end of it.
TIA!
Re: OMG - cluster feeding for well over 24 hours
He's already got a paci that he does love. I honestly think he's just hungry.
The 6 week growth spurt was a killer for me/us. He was really trying to ramp up my supply by sucking all the time even if no milk came out. I sat in a chair with a giant jug of water and snacks and surfed the internet for what seemed like days while he nursed around the clock. He also slept a ton but really wanted to sleep on my boob.
Good luck! It should be shortlived -- like two days max I think. Make your DH bring you as many meals as possible and wait on you hand and foot while you busy yourself making milk.
I completely agree. The 6 week growth spurt (and a few after that) were just as you described. They lasted about a day and a half for us. I felt like she was literally attached to me the entire time! Hang in there.
Thanks guys! Good to know there's a light at the end of the tunnel.
I had to leave this morning for an optometrist appointment, so I fed him and made a point of compressing right before hand and then literally instantly replaced my boob with a paci and then Husband changed him and put him in a sling and he's been asleep ever since. I'm going to put snacks and drinks by my nursing chair and the couch right now.
