DS needs surgery, totally not a shocker.

His adenoids are blocking more than 3/4 of his nasal passages. The sinuses themselves are great and totally clear, but the adenoids are HUGE. So out they will come.

The doc said that it should help his nasally sounding voice, the snoring, and quite possibly what seems like a minor hearing issue. They are so big that he says they are probably causing pressure on his ear canals and blocking some sounds.

He also said that it should resolve his eating issues-- the adenoids are causing pressure in his nose, and swallowing makes him feel like he can't breathe. It's probably also affecting how much he tastes.

This is not surprising, since I had mine out at 12, and DH has nose issues as well.

You should see the CAT scan. He's got this miniscule little passage past the adenoids. I feel awful that I waited this long to get him to the ENT.
