Recently, on our local board, a poster reviewed the Woodbury JBF sale. The review wasn't great, but it certainly wasn't terrible.
The owners of that sale figured out her name and sent her a threatening e-mail at her personal e-mail address. They also created a bump account and sent her a PM.
The biggest invasion of privacy was that they used her name to look up to see if she had been a consignor with them in the past. When I sign up with JBF to consign, I do not sign with the intention that the information will be used against me if I do not write a good review of their sale.
This is a huge invasion of privacy and should not be tolerated. This is horrible business practice. Yes, the consignors make money off of the sale, but so do the owners of the sale. Consignors also make up a large portion of buyers.
Administrators were alerted and this post was taken down. But this should not be tolerated. We should not feel threatened on our board. We trust each other to write honest reviews and we shouldn't be scared of someone looking up our personal information if our review isn't favorable.
I, for one, will never consign with JBF Woodbury, and I am really reconsidering consigning with JBF in any city.
Re: Do NOT consign with Woodbury JBF
seriously? Some people need to get over themselves. So someone didn't have a good experience. Reviews get shared. If you don't want any negative reviews, make sure you don't give people a reason to give them!
But doing something like this is going to be FAR worse for the JBF reputation than a bad review is.
But, did this happen on this board? And I missed it? Boo.
Yeah. It would be one thing to send a PM and be like "how can we make your experience better?" or "can you tell me a little more?" But to figure out someone's real name and e-mail and to look them up the database. That takes it one step past crazy.
And yeah, after the other review, I would have still considered going through them. Now there is no way in hell.
Also, ygpm in a few seconds.
