Redness around injection site?

I switched from Lovenox to Heparin last week but I guess this could apply to any injection...I now have red spots on both my sides where I inject.  On the one side it is red about 5"x 2" and I haven't injected on that side since Sunday night now.  The other side the red spots are smaller around each injection site.  They don't hurt or itch... anyone have this happen?

I did call the nurse who honestly seems confused cause she called me back and just said inject on the other side then...I said both sides are red though.  She now is calling me back...again

Re: Redness around injection site?

  • I had the same thing when I switched to Heparin! I had taken most of my injections on one side of my stomach and it turned red. I was afraid it was an infection and called the ob/gyn and they referred me to the heme office. They said it's common and just to change the site. So then I injected on the other side of my abdomen. The redness eventually went away... Hopefully you still have some sites that haven't been used yet. I couldn't wait to stop taking Heparin!
