I will send DS to a pre-school program when we move back to the US. He'll be 3.5...at that time. While I can stay at home with him now, I'm going to take advantage of it...we do go to playgroup once a week, playdates with friends at least once a week, and music class once a week. I'm hoping when he's a little older, we might do gymnastics together...until his little brother or sister is born at least!
Not until he's 3. Or a month away from being 3 I guess, since his birthday is in Oct, or even the year after that. Anything before that is more like daycare IMO, which there is nothing wrong with, I just don't see it being much like 'school'. We go to a lot of playgroups and story time and stuff, if we didn't get out an socialize I'd consider sending him somewhere sooner just for the social aspect.
My older son is finishing up his last year of preschool. (He'll turn 5 in May and start kindergarten in the fall.) We plan to use the same preschool for Colin, but they start taking children at 2. Since he won't be 2 until January, he'll start, most likely 2 days per week, next fall.
ETA: My B/SIL started their kids in a Mother's Day Out 'preschool' thru a local church when they were about 15 months old I believe. 2x per week.
Yes. I am sending DD two days/week from 9am-3pm. A lot of her friends in the neighborhood are going, so she'll have two full days to play with them, then we'll still have music class and yoga on 2 of the other 3 days. DD gets really bored being with just me all day.
Plus, quite frankly, I am looking forward to the break. The only breaks I get now are to do some freelance work. It will be nice to have time to do work if I have to, but to also just be able to relax.
ETA: Another factor is that we don't speak to DD in English at home. I think it will be good for her to be in an all-English environment two days/week as opposed to classes or playdates here and there.
Re: SAHMs of 12-14 mo LOs
Ditto. I don't think she would get much out of it before the age of two (if there are even programs that allow children under 2).
