Moms of 2 (or moms pg with #2)

When you were pg with #2, did you ever hit the point in the 2nd trimester when you got some of your energy back?

With DD I felt like I had energy again very shortly after hitting the 2nd trimester. This time I'm almost 20 weeks and still exhausted all the time. At this rate I'm going to hit the 3rd trimester slump without ever getting to the good part of the 2nd trimester.

  • No, but I had lots of issues with that pregnancy.  A lot of my friends did hit the 2nd tri running though!  :)

    .
  • I was the opposite.  I had no energy my entire 1st pg.  never got the jolt of energy.  with my 2nd pg, I had so much energy... worse m/s for a short time... but much more energy.

GL. hope you get that boost of energy soon.

  • I never hit the 2nd trimester resurgence of energy with either pregnancy.  But, I didn't mind since I never had morning sickness.  9 months of sheer exhaustion was better than nausea or throwing up.

  • Once I hit the 2nd trimester, I got my energy back. Not a jolt of energy, but my normal everyday energy.

You have remember, your first pregnancy, you weren't chasing a toddler around either. :-) This takes a great deal of energy from me and I'm sooo much more short tempered with him.

  • Honestly, I was so happy to find out DS was OK because we thought he wasn't, I really didn't worry much about how I felt.  DD definitely watched too much TV in the 3rd tri.  After 23 weeks, I only had to go to the doctor every 2 weeks, an I could relax a bit.
  • I'm still waiting for my energy surge and I'm still nauseous.  I think having another child to care for is a big part of it.  With my first pg, I sat at a desk all day and could sit on the couch when I got home.  Now, I chase DS around all day.
  • Not the same as with the first.  Once my light first trimester nausea was done, I felt a lot better, but I've been really tired the whole time.  Now that I'm almost 35 weeks I just feel like crap.

Last time I worked a desk job and this time I work an active job . . . and run around after an active kid.

  • Not at all. DD and I spent a lot of time watching TV in bed with my second pregnancy. I had never been so exhausted in my entire life.
  • I was always tired with #2.  I was (am) a SAHM, so, I didn't get much "down time" other than when DS1 napped.  I took him somewhere every morning (park, story time, mall) to wear him out so he'd nap well, so i could nap, and in the afternoon, we were back out, so I could wear him out again for bedtime!  DH always got home after he was in bed, so I had to do dinner, bath (bathtime SUCKS with a belly!  Just hated it!) and bed alone.  So I thought it was pretty normal that I still felt tired all of the time.  With DS1, I was working, but sitting a lot.  And able to take an hour lunch break.  And at 4:30, when work was over, that was MY time!  When you are a mommy, there is little, if any "my time"!  Hang in there!

  • Not really.  I definitely felt better near the end of the 2nd tri as compared to the 1st or early 2nd tri, but it isn't like I felt great and was ready to tackle the world or anything.  I am still feeling pretty good now, although the baby is getting heavier and I am feeling uncomfortable and tired pretty regularly.
Fortunate to be a SAHM to my 3 musketeers (5/2006, 5/2010 & 12/2011). Soy & dairy free for the 3rd and final time. Lilypie Kids Birthday tickers Lilypie Second Birthday tickers Lilypie First Birthday tickers imageimage
