Mattslady

Just curious as to how the intake went last week? It sounds like our DS are about the same speech wise.

Re: Mattslady

  • Oh, I meant to update you.

He did qualify for speech services.  The evaluation was very low key and low stress -  she was so good.  Just played with him, and let him lead while she observed.  She was also very reassuring to me.  She said that he is right on the cusp of the qualifications.  (He is 16 months, with about 4-5 words that ALL start with the 'b' sound, babbles constantly and is very expressive with his babbling, but it all sounds like bbbbbbbbbbbah.)  Something she said that put my mind at ease was that, in her experience, she bet that if she walked into his daycare class and evaluated all the boys, 75% of them would qualify under these standards.

So, we will start therapy next week.  I'm looking forward to it as I think it will help his frustration soooo much if he can learn some new sounds and be able to spit out what it is he wants to tell us!  If I were you, I'd go ahead and call.  I don't know what it is in TX, but I'm in KY and in the highest income bracket (for EI) and the services will only cost us $100/month.  For that - I see no reason not to take advantage, ya know?
