Pillows for Toddlers?

Any recommendations for toddler pillows? Does such a thing even exist? Quinn really wants to sleep with a pillow. We've found him using stuffed animals under his head, and even his extra blanket. We started folding up a small blanket that he's been using as a pillow for the past few nights but I think he needs the real deal.
Seems like a silly question but I can't seem to find the toddler manual and you ladies are the next best thing :-)

 TIA,
Allison

Re: Pillows for Toddlers?

  • just get him a real pillow...the girls have been using one since 15 months, and we never looked back :-)   try to get a flatter one, or a regular one and  it will eventually flatten out
  • Alexis has had one since she was about 18 months old.  We found it at IKEA, it's  called either a toddler pillow or crib pillow.  It's the perfect size.  I thought about getting a normal pillow but it was just too big for her crib, so I was so glad I found this!

  • I would try a real pillow, too.  Cedric has used a real pillow since he moved to a real bed at about 20 months.  Never had a problem with it.  He does have a mini pillow at school, but I have no idea where they get those!

  • Oh, just saw Leanna's reply--so I guess Ikea is where to find one!
  • Bed Bath and Beyond sells a kids sized pillow.  It is slightly smaller and flatter than a reg pillow. Standard pillow cases fit it, they are just a little big.  I fold the extra fabric under the pillow when I make the bed.
  • we bought a travel pillow at target and it is perfect Aaron sized :) I do have a fil that owns a mens tailor shop though so I get custom pillow cases....if that were not the case it would be harder
  • We bought a travel pillow for Noah and had my sister make us pillowcases.  It didn't last very long though before we just got him a regular pillow.
  • I bought a toddler pillow for Joshua at Babies R Us. It was the perfect size for him. The regular pillows were too big for him. He loves this one.
  • When I was little, I used to use my "toddler pillow" as my security blanket. I NEEDED it to sleep.  I used to rub the fabric off until it was filled with wholes!  The little pillows do exist.  My parents used to get mine at the Cuban kid stores (canastillas).

This weekend, I actually saw the same pillow I was obessed w/ as a child at Bed Bath and Beyond.  It was next to the travel neck rolls, so I suppose it is a travel pillow... but it brought back so many memories.  : )

  • Thank you ladies, you rock! I knew you'd have suggestions :-) Looks like we are going shopping this weekend for pillows. Quinn is still in his crib so a little pillow may be good for now, but we will be transitioning him to a bed soon so we can try a bigger pillow then, if needed.

    Thanks again!

    This. Totally! :)

ETA: She has had a regular, twin sized pillow since she was in her crib and it fit perfect...and if it fits a crib it will fit a toddler bed since the mattress is the same size.

  • Max has been using a twin sized pillow for about a month now. It fits perfectly in his crib. I can tell he loves it, when I lay him down at night he looks for the pillow and makes sure thats where his head is all night =) Alex has been using one since he was the same age (14 months)
