  • We have bought our last two (two different houses) from Sears and had great experiences both times.

  • I've had horrible service with Sears because they outsource their delivery to another company. Their delivery people have been unprofessional and do not follow manufacturer's suggestions (to keep the appliance from breaking) as part of the delivery. I won't ever use them again. They also don't price match as easily as they claim. I had to ask for a manager and they refused until I made a big stink. They are on my appliance poo poo list.

There is a shop in Santa Cruz called BID (Built in Distributors) that have awesome prices. Whatever Sears charges, they charge 40% less on average and have a good variety. You might look for a shop like this near you. I bought my mom a stove and refrigerator from there and not only were the prices reasonable but the delivery staff was professional.

We bought our dishwasher from Western Appliance. Depending on the location, your sales staff varies greatly. For example, in San Jose, I couldn't stand the sales staff but I was after a specific model and they carried the manufacturer that I wanted. They referred me to their Salinas store. For a good deal, I travel. Well the staff in Salinas was 200% better. They delivered my dishwasher but they outsourced the installation. If I had to go this route again, I'd hire my own plumber to do the installation so you have control over the quality of work.

  • We bought ours from Orchard when they were owned by Sears.  Had a great experience.  We went when they had their "We pay the sales tax" days.

  • I've found that Best buy has really good prices.

But that Lowes has the best price match program.  If you find it cheaper online (anywhere) they'll match and take 10% off.

  • We got ours at Best Buy, they had the best price and the service was great.
  • I've never bought a fridge, but we got our W&D at the Sears outlet for a great price. The one in San Leandro is huge and there's a smaller one at the Great Mall in Milpitas. We had no issues with delivery or installation.

  • We got ours at Home Depot, and loved our experience there.  We also got our W/D there.  Our fridge was 10% off, and we got the credit card to get an additional 10% off as well with 0 interest and no payments for a year (just had a separate "savings" so we could keep our own interest and wait to pay it until we had to).  Remember that Home Depot (and I'm pretty sure Lowe's and Best Buy and all) will match and beat prices/sales/deals by their competitors on big ticket items like fridges and W/D, so find the fridge you like, and the place you like, and cost compare to get that item at the place you want it from for the lowest possible price!!  GL!

  • We got all of our appliances at Sears when we moved last year. (The people that deliver the refrigerators are not outsourced - they only outsource the deliveries of appliances you are having installed....) Anyway, we had a good experience with purchase and delivery. I always say, you can't beat a Sears sale. Their everyday prices may not be the lowest but when they go on sale, they were the lowest I found. And I did a lot of price comparison shopping, we had to buy all new appliances. Their delivery was cheapest I found as well.

  • We went to the Sears outlet in Milpitas.
  • Price matching at Lowe's and HD is your best friend. We just saved $350 off our of dishwasher by taking an Iphone photo of the pricetag at Sears and showing the person at Lowe's.

We actually bought our fridge at Fry's (undercut Lowe's by $150), but everything else we've bought using the 10% pricematch at Lowe's or HD.
