Adoption

UNICEF does it again.

Not to mention those idiots--the 10 Idaho "missionaries" impact on this.

Rumor has it Americans with permission of the US government and Haitian prime minister were stopped at the PaP airport this weekend. Even though the parents had the proper documentation, the authorities refused to let the children get on the plane. The children are now being housed in a UNICEF camp (away from anyone they know--whether their adoptive parents or their orphanage workers). The parents are still in Haiti waiting for permission to travel. They are not allowed to see their children last I heard.

I really hate UNICEF's agenda.

Re: UNICEF does it again.

  • That is infuriating!

I'd like to believe that there's no way I would have allowed them to take my child away from me without using force, but without being in their situation, who can tell?  I'm sure they just want to go along to get along until they can bring their children home and be assured no one will contest the legitimacy of their adoptions.

Who the hell is UNICEF to get involved?!?  Someone's head should roll!

The post entitled "This could get long" contains most of the facts. Now that i read it again, maybe UNICEF wasn't as directly involved as they have been at other times. They've still done plenty for me to hate their agenda though!

  • I read the blog post, and it does seem as if UNICEF isn't necessarily the culprit here.  I'm sure reports of the 10 missionaries have fueled the fire in Haiti, and the locals who stopped them at the airport were just genuinely concerned that the children were being kidnapped.  Still, this should have been quickly resolved, and the children should not have been taken from their parents to live in what is basically a refuge camp.

Such a mess.  My heart breaks for all the children and families involved.  I will pray for them.

  • I am very saddened by this news -- but honestly, I'm not surprised... Those 10 American missionaries have done so much damage to Haitian adoption, and IA in general.  :(  Prayers for these little ones and their families.
