DS has been waking up between 4-5am extremely HAPPY and wanting to play. If I let him go for a while this cooing turns to crying. He will take a bottle and calm down and go back to sleep but by then I've already been up for an hour and I have to get ready for work. I have tried CIO a few times (admittedly half-heartedly) but there always seems to be a reason for his crying (ie: rolled over, hungry, paci, messy diaper). He doesn't do this every day so should I be letting him CIO at all or solving whatever problem he has?
Also, after his bottle he won't go back in the crib - I try and let him fuss and "talk" for 20 min. while I get ready but then it is just easier to bring him downstairs and put him in his swing - where he goes right to sleep. I don't want him to wake up DD so he comes downstairs with me.
I'm afraid I'm creating a monster...
What would you do? Is this a stage or am I creating a bad sleeper? Any advice or experience would be great ![]()
Re: He wants to wake up EARLY! What to do...
gray and gibby did this for the past few weeks- used to wake up at 7am and then started waking up between 5-6am... we just fed them and snuggled them and tried to get them back to sleep which they did some days... and after a couple weeks they are now starting to go back to their regular time... today they slept until 6:30 which is fine by me
sorry- no real advice- but it's normal...
Sorry you are going through this--I am starting to feel your pain! DD did this too last night--got up at 5 and was laughing and kicking
I too brought her out into our family room as I wanted other DD to stay asleep. I just put her on her bear mat and let her "talk" for a bit. I then moved her to the swing after 20 min. of kicking and she was back out once the swing started. I'm hoping this isn't a habit?!?! They were finally STTN-rrrr
Hang in there. Like other pp, I think it's normal and will hopefully resolve itself w/o it being an ongoing issue. Treat yourself to some caffeine
